“We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.”
2 Corinthians 3:4
• After hearing my husband speak of his bout with stress-related depression, a woman turned to me and asked, “What was it like for you?” I have to think for a moment. I was there with Bill through it all. I watched him experience deep anxiety, saw him deal with anger, and listened as he sorted out his life. So I answer, “My survival rests on a firm belief in Bill’s inner strength and the ultimate strength of God in Bill. He’ll come through a stronger person.” The apostle Paul had a similar confidence in the Corinthian believers. He could believe the best would occur in them because he trusted, ultimately, in the power of God to do the work of strengthening their faith. We can confidently believe in people when we know their confidence rests in the Lord. God gives us Himself, and He is enough for any situation.
