Things Worth Remembering

“To all who believed him and accepted him,
he gave the right to become children of God.”
John 1:12
• Everything changed for me on March 7, 1999, when I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and lost my short-term memory. I can’t remember what I ate for dinner last night, but I do remember that I did eat and that I didn’t go to bed hungry like too many others in this world of ours. Some of my best memories are forever lost—like the cruise we took to the Bahamas just two weeks prior to my brain surgery. But I do recall our camping trip to the wilderness during my recovery period. I remember the look in my husband’s eyes when I smiled by the campfire and marveled at the birds building their nests. I hold that particular memory close to my heart, as it was the week that I gave my heart to Jesus. Some things are so worth remembering! Jesus never forgets us, no matter what our state of mind.
