“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus:
‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
Acts 20:35
• As one of the classic rock DJ's in Chicago radio, I met lots of interesting people—Scottie Pippen, Walter Payton, Buster Douglas, just to name a few. But, really, the most interesting people were the fellow “personalities” I worked with every day. Interesting and . . . unusual. I recall one conversation at work in which I shared a particularly distressing personal problem. In response, the DJ running the studio looked away from the microphone and sincerely offered me his best advice: “Why don’t you just take some drugs?” Since then, I’ve learned to ask myself another shocking question: “Why don’t you just try focusing on somebody else?” That usually leads me to some form of giving. And yes, I enjoy the blessing that comes as a result of following the Lord’s good advice! Know the joy of this privilege: to sacrifice your time and your energy.
