“Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right.
Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Philippians 4:8
• Two words: “reality TV.” I want to say no but I often say yes. Especially after a long day, when all I really want to do is sit in front of the tube and veg out. Can you relate? Some of those shows actually seem pretty harmless, like the one about exchanging places to fix up a neighbor’s family room. Others, though, are just plain pathetic. Computer programmers say, “Garbage in, garbage out.” But doesn’t that little rule apply to the human mind, as well? If so, we must constantly ask ourselves the following question: Do the things I think about help me grow spiritually and make me a more joyful person? Lately, I’ve been trying to switch channels more often. Ah! There’s the History Channel, beckoning me to learn more about the Roman Empire. There’s some worthiness in that, right? To be educated, choose the things that are enlightening.
