“Just as the mountains surround and protect Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds and protects his people, both now and forever.”
Psalm 125:2
• I was feeling overwhelmed and restless, so I took a walk in the woods. But even the beauty of nature failed to soothe me. Life’s demands and uncertainties would not be quieted. I prayed for peace: “Lord, I need a special word from You today.” A little farther on, the trail forked. I could either follow a stream or climb a mountain. “Which path shall I take, Lord?” I climbed the mountain, and when I reached the top, I sensed God whisper, “Look all around you.” Slowly I explored the view—ranges upon ranges of majestic mountains towering up to a pure blue sky. Tears filled my eyes as my heart held these words: “My love surrounds you like the mountains.” In your times of distress, remember your heavenly protection.
