A Life Verse

“You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me,
believe in me, and understand that I alone am God.
There is no other God; there never has been and never will be.”
Isaiah 43:10
• About fifty years ago I sat on a lonely stretch of beach near Santa Monica, California, with my Bible open in front of me. I prayerfully set some goals for my life and, in the process, chose a life verse: Isaiah 43:10. This verse has anchored me all these years. Have you chosen a life verse? I heartily recommend that you do. My life verse reminds me that I am God’s witness and His servant. It also reminds me that He wants me to get to know Him. As I pursue knowledge of Him, I find Him searching into my heart to help me know myself better. Sometimes I feel like a sardine can with the lid pulled back so He can expose my inmost thoughts. Yet how else would I prefer to be in the presence of the one true God—other than open, completely open to His goodness? Let the Bible be the star to steer your ship by.
