Big Little Difference

“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them!”

Mark 10:14

• I have several nieces and nephews who are still just little tykes. I love seeing them at family gatherings, delighting in their zest for life and their innocent joy at play. But it’s easy to ignore the kids at those times, too, because we adults want to catch up on all the family “news.” So through- out the day, I’ll often hear phrases like this directed at the little ones: “Not right now.” “Later.” “Hey, I’m talking here.” “Quiet now!” “Just go out and play.” “See what’s on TV.” I feel I have a special ministry in these situations. I choose to pay lots of attention to the kids. I remember what it’s like to want to spend time with any adult who’s truly interested in me. So I become that person, just for them, just for a while. I think it makes a big difference. Be alert to a child who needs your undivided attention today.
