“What is faith?
It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.
It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.”
Hebrews 11:1
• Where is God in all of this? I wondered after finding out I had colon cancer. Yet I realized I could have faith . . . or live amidst worry and doubt. Envisioning the best outcome can’t hurt. Then there’s the work that goes with it. So many prayers blessed me that I learned it’s vital to faithfully pray for our loved ones in crisis. Sharing cheerful greeting cards and flowers, consoling each other, and cultivating family rituals are other ways to demonstrate a caring faith. Where is God in all of this? I want to see Him in all the corners of my life. Thankfully, the cancer was in its early stages, and I have recovered, at least for the present. And so faith, for me, is not only a deeply felt comfort in the face of death; it is helping me find a meaningful life. God is always with you.
