• I was a little “full bodied” in my school days, but I still wanted to be a cheerleader. I was coordinated, energetic, and filled with school spirit—so why not? Okay, there was one reason: I just couldn’t do those required cartwheels during the tryouts. Consequently, my name appeared on the cut list. Oh, well. I could jump, cheer, holler. But cartwheels? Nope. Thankfully, in the Kingdom of God there’s a level playing field. Equal access. We are all equal members of God’s family, having received forgiveness through Christ’s work on the cross for us. And we have differing abilities and gifts to use in God’s service. Yes, others can outperform me in preaching or teaching, in giving or showing mercy, in evangelizing or administrating. But God only asks me to do what He’s equipped me to do. I like that; I’ll never show up on the celestial cut list. The Hand that points the way is the same Hand that supplies the means.
