“He never grows faint or weary. . . .
He gives power to those who are tired and worn out;
he offers strength to the weak.”
Isaiah 40:28–29
• I plodded wearily to the annoying buzzer on my washing machine, jammed for the second time in half an hour. I had been up most of the night with a sick baby, so I was already exhausted. But my day was just beginning. As I yanked open the lid to the soggy mess, I heard a distinct plop—my toddler trying to fill our toilet with her tubby toys, again. With a groan I left my twisted laundry and hurried to the next room to rescue the plumbing. Ever feel alone in the mess? We want someone to under- stand when we’re so tired we could cry, when our washer jams and our toddler makes a statement in our not-too-clean bathroom. It helps to turn to God at those times. It helps to remember: We’re known and understood by the One who sees our day before it begins. In the exhausting chaos of your moments, God sees and cares. You are not alone.
