“They will come to their senses and escape from the Devil’s trap.
For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.”
2 Timothy 2:26
• Seated upon the riding mower, I maneuvered between the trees when, suddenly, I realized I was being propelled up and not out. The chain of one of the swings had caught on the nose of the mower, and its front end was rising up as the mower balanced on its back wheels. I was riding a bucking bronco! It’s amazing how quickly unforeseen dangers can snare us, even in our spiritual growth. Each of us seems to have a special vulnerability, so take a moment to consider: What is it, for me, that most quickly entices my affections? A deep-down longing resides in us all. It may attach to anything that seems to offer solace and satisfaction. Beware! Inordinate affection for what is only finite can draw a heart away from the Source of infinite bliss. What is bedeviling you to turn away from Jesus today?
