“To the man who does not work but trusts
God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.”
Romans 4:5 (NIV)
• When I was a child my parents bought me “magic sketch pads.” The magic was that each page had drawn on it an invisible picture. An artist had already done all the work. I simply scribbled with a pencil, and the original drawing became visible. I couldn’t take credit for the art, but I could enjoy the benefits of it just the same. We did not witness the miracles Jesus performed. We did not see Him crucified. We were not with John when he found the empty tomb. In accepting the gift of Jesus’ perfect righteousness as our own, it is simply credited to our account. Then, our lives change! We love others with Christ’s love. We live in the power of the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead. In believing (or scribbling), the invisible is made visible in our lives. How good of God to freely credit righteousness to our lifetime accounts!
