“A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”
Proverbs 25:11
• The woman boarded the plane and stood beside my seat. I smiled and stood so she could get past me and sit down. She barely muttered a quiet thank-you. During the pre-fight instructions, the woman stared into space, her face grim, hands clasped tightly. A few minutes into the fight, I turned to her. “Where are you headed today?” I asked. Soon I learned her father was critically ill. She’d made several trips to see him but now his condition had suddenly worsened. She was weary and exhausted. Would she make it one more time before he died? When the fight ended, we walked together down the con- course. And I felt compelled to ask one more question, “May I pray with you?” Place these words of wisdom in your conversational repertoire: “May I pray with you?”
