“We know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down—
when we die and leave these bodies—
we will have a home in heaven,
an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.”
2 Corinthians 5:1
• It was hard to watch Dad’s suffering as he approached death. His body had changed so much, ravaged by a stroke, by cancer, and now by congestive heart failure. I saw his utter frailty, yes. But there were also times when I glimpsed something else in him. At certain moments, in the way he moved or talked or looked at me, I saw the young man once again, the one I’d seen in the old black-and-white pictures in the family albums. I’m thankful for those glimpses. For I know that Dad—and all of us who believe—will inherit an ever-living body. The wrinkles on the skin we know now will eventually turn to dust. But in our life to come, through the ages, we are ageless. Your home in Heaven awaits you.
