“Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Matthew 6:34
• Visiting the house of an old friend from high school, I saw a picture hanging above her washer and dryer. It was a nicely framed and neatly hung old cross-stitch showing a line of clean laundry hanging on a clothesline. The little poem at the bottom said, “If all of our troubles were hung on a line, you would take yours and I would take mine.” It summed up all I’d been thinking about life’s trials. While I was glad not to have two children in diapers and one in kindergarten, my friend was glad not to be thinking of driver’s education and the sight of a teen-aged son with a power tool in his hand. The little poem and today’s Scripture help me remember two important things about life: My troubles are a pretty good ft for me—and I need deal with only a day’s worth at a time. Let your unique troubles mold you into the beautifully unique person you are to become.
