A Good Night’s Sleep

“He giveth his beloved sleep.”
Psalm 127:2 (KJV)
• That little bald-headed, blue-eyed infant was my delight. Except for one thing. He was codependent on his pacifier. Wouldn’t sleep without one in each hand and one in his mouth, and would drop them from his crib with frustrating consistency. So every night for six months, I would hear a scream, stumble into the little guy’s room, dive under the crib, and retrieve the lost treasure. “God, you know how much sleep I need!” I prayed with all the accusation of a woman scorned. Like an echo from the mountains, the answer came, “God, you know how much sleep I need!” Yes, God really does know! He knows what I spent my time on yesterday, and what will be required of me tomorrow. If I am not sleeping at this moment, God will either let me catch extra minutes in the morning or give me less to do during the day. Thank God! God measures our strength according to our responsibilities.
