“From the time the world was created,
people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made.
They can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. . . .” Romans 1:20
• It is a family joke that my mother is constantly losing her keys. When I was a little girl, we’d all regularly turn the house upside down hunting for those keys. And they’d turn up in the most unexpected places. On one occasion, we found them freezing in the fridge. Another time, they had been neatly packed inside a picnic lunch. And quite often the keys would be “found” in my mother’s pocket! Then we’d have a good laugh at Mum! People sometimes say they are “searching” for God, as if He were lost or playing hide-and-seek. But God is not hiding; He is everywhere, revealing Himself in all of creation, in Jesus, in human beings who have been created in His image and likeness. We don’t have to look very far to find Him. Just as far as our own hearts. God is ever-present, as close as our next breath.
