“Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.”
1 Peter 4:9
• This Scripture has gotten me into trouble with my family a few times. They call me a natural “loving nurturer.” And I am! So . . . I often invite people in to talk, to share of what I have— and sometimes to stay for a while, if they have no place to go. (Yes, we’ve taken in a few desperate folks and families for days on end.) My husband and two boys are also quite charitable. They do care. But they like their privacy too. They’ve encouraged me to draw some legitimate boundaries around the family home. Not everyone can be allowed immediate live-in status. I know it’s true, and I’m working on it. But I’m also thankful God gave me such a sensitive heart. The principle holds true: Be willing to share your home. Wisely, and with a full understanding of each family member’s needs . . . share! Blessings are best when they are given naturally, cheerfully.
