“Not to us, O LORD, but to you goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness.”
Psalm 115:1
• I opened my mouth to sing and nothing came out. Not a word. Not a note. Everyone in the church was staring at me expectantly, but I was silent. I had practiced and practiced, dreamed of giving a beautiful, lyrical message about God. Everyone would be inspired by my song and tell me what a great job I had done. My voice was gone. As I pleaded with Him, God showed me that this gift was not my own, but His. If I allowed Him to sing through me, then I would experience the unsurpassed joy that comes from glorifying God. After six months of voice rest, I was able to sing again, but on God’s terms. What does that mean? Simply that I sing for the joy of it, with a grateful heart, applause or not. There’s true joy in serving God with the gifts He gives.
