He Will Honor You

“Humble yourselves under the mighty power of God,

and in his good time he will honor you.”

1 Peter 5:6

• For years I worked at a company and had a clearly defined work identity as a leader. I enjoyed a private office, a staff, and lots of responsibility! Then I left all that behind in order to work at home as a freelancer. I loved my new freedom but missed the executive status. In my mind, I knew that all these outer trappings of success didn’t impress God, and I didn’t want them to mean so much to me, either. Now I wanted to serve God with a humble heart, no matter what assignment He might send. As time passed, I learned some painful lessons in humility. Then an amazing thing happened. I received a crucial assignment to work on a project with an assistant to the president of the United States! And he honored me with a special letter of thanks from the White House when our project ended. All I could do was thank God for such an opportunity. For it was in His time, and in His service that this honor came. Leave your honor and status up to the Lord.
