He Allows It

of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

• I have a default setting on my computer e-mail program that causes all junk mail to bypass my inbox and go straight to a special folder. I never see it, so I don’t open documents that might contain viruses and infect my hard drive. In a sense, we have a spiritual default setting by which anything and everything that wants to come into our “inbox” must first go through a filter and be determined to be “not junk.” This filter is at the Father’s throne. Even Satan has to get per- mission to test us, as he did Job (and Peter in Luke 22:31). Yes, all that concerns us is filtered through the Father’s hands. In fact, I’m realizing these days that even the most painful hardships I’ve experienced in my life were filtered through the Father’s hands to work for my good. We can give thanks amidst each circumstance, trusting the Father has allowed it.
