“Be silent, and know that I am God!”
Psalm 46:10
• A “crick” ran through the small Montana town where I grew up, and almost every spring there was flooding. We used to drive around and just look to see how many homes and barnyards were under water. Even downtown businesses couldn’t escape the threat. Finally, the county built a dam. What a relief it was to have the water channeled and under control! Last summer, we visited the Grand Coulee Dam. I was amazed at the electric power harnessed there. The dam supplies electricity to 2 million homes. Other benefits to having water channeled include irrigation, food control, and recreation. The visit made me realize I’d been running all over the place, trying to do everything. I needed some food control! For me, that means taking time, silent time, to seek God about what I’m supposed to be doing rather than just running wild, beyond all legitimate personal boundaries. Work hard—but keep your busyness within the boundaries.
