“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you.”
1 Thessalonians 4:11
• Isn’t it amazing that our God is a worker? First, He did the work of Creation in six days. Then He did the work of saving that Creation by coming to earth, preaching, teaching, and dying for us. For six days, God says, it is perfectly good and appropriate to work. Then, at 6:00 each morning, I think, Is it really time to go to work again? Ugh! Have you been there? How inconvenient, upsetting, tension producing, exciting, invigorating, awe inspiring! Work— it’s everything all rolled into one. So I take a moment to ask God to bless me as I try to sort it out and learn to enjoy it. Yes, bless the work of my hands, God: the ideas of my mind, the strength of my body, the passion of my heart. They are all gifts, just like Friday’s paycheck. May you enjoy this Monday as much as you’ll enjoy Sunday.
