“I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart.”
Ezekiel 36:26
• Swedish statesman and Nobel Prize winner Dag Hammarskjöld once said that the longest journey is the journey inward. It is a quest that drives us to search for knowledge of our selves. It also spurs us to find the ultimate meaning of our lives. Isn’t this what it means to acquire a new heart and a new spirit? During our lifetimes, we journey in a spiritual quest, letting God grow within us a transformed self—that we might acquire a pure heart, a humble heart, and a heart of love. Hammarskjöld became the secretary-general of the United Nations in 1953, serving the world well until his death in a plane crash in 1961. He was known as a quiet, tactful, and highly active diplomat with a strong faith in God. How would you like to be known when your days are done? Aspire to be known as a woman of gentle heart.
