“Are any among you suffering? They should keep on praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord.”
James 5:13
• My husband, Rodney, lost his job due to outsourcing. When he’d been unemployed for three months, he bought me a generous gift—geraniums for the front- and backyard flowerbeds. He helped plant them, something he’d never done before. On that spring day, the job market looked ripe with opportunity. Fall came, and although the geraniums kept blooming, Rodney remained out of work. Winter’s ice assault killed the geraniums in the front bed. I assumed the back flowerbed had faced defeat as well. But when I looked, all twelve geraniums were rich and lush! To me, it was a miracle. We thanked God for what we could and couldn’t see. A new career path soon followed. Even in cold, desolate times, God is near.
