Cat Got Your Work?

“Work with enthusiasm,
as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
Ephesians 6:7
• Dolphin, our little cat, crouches on the dashboard, his head turning with the windshield wipers. As he learns the pattern, the tip of his tail begins to twitch in rhythm. Then he leaps, paws snatching futilely at the passing blades. Occasionally he rolls to his back, so he can attack with all four feet. He can do this for hours, tracking the wipers and bounding after them. The sun comes out, and he takes a nap or finds another game. When next it rains, he is back, in eager pursuit. Dolphin delightedly chases the windshield wipers with his whole heart. There is little I do into which I pour that level of involvement and pleasure. Yet Paul calls us to be enthusiastic in everything we do. If I took his advice seriously, how would my life be different—in the rain and in the sunshine? Attack your work with pleasure this day, for you are serving God.
