“If you stay joined to me and my words remain in you,
you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted!”
John 15:7
• I couldn’t believe it! My coworker had promised to mail a pack- age for me; I assured the client it would be delivered. Later, I heard, “Sorry, Carol, I forgot to mail it.” Ouch! A blow to my business reputation. How many promises have you received in your lifetime— assurances that were eventually broken? Take a moment right now to recall some of the most painful disappointments these broken pledges have caused you. Then turn your gaze to God’s goodness over the years. Recall that the Author of all promises about the things that matter most—truth and fiction, past and future, life and death—has been so kind to you, always doing what He says. The key is to stay close to Him, so close that our wills virtually mesh together. That way, even during the toughest times, we can pray with confidence. The Lord always answers: Yes, No . . . or Wait.
