“Yes, Lord, your servant is listening.”
1 Samuel 3:9
• I will remember the perplexed woman with the fast tongue. As we passed on the street, she stopped me. “You know,” she said, “I’m really good at finding my way and normally don’t need help. However, I can’t find which way I’m supposed to go. I’m competent, you know. I can figure it out on my own eventually. Just thought I’d ask.” Looking everywhere but at me, she seemed to be talking to someone else. Without taking a breath, she continued, “You’re probably very nice but you’re not much help.” As I stood there with my mouth half open, she walked off, muttering about which direction to try next, and about how hard it is to get good help. Lord, I thought, is that how we approach You? When God speaks, may we be listening.
