Justice Will Come

“I will take vengeance; I will repay those who deserve it. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.”
Deuteronomy 32:35
• I had just walked out of a business meeting with only tiny shreds of my dignity intact. I’d been held responsible, scolded for mistakes—things that were clearly someone else’s fault. And that “someone else” sat there smugly, knowing she’d won this power play. At the door she smiled at me and turned away, ambling back to her comfortable cubicle. Okay, I admit it; vengeance, at that moment, would have been sweet. But God says, “Leave justice to me.” However, we can take a certain comfort in knowing that God will not endure rivalry forever—and that He will deal with those who oppose His work in our lives, too. We won’t be delivered from all our persecutors in this life. But we can let go of feelings of victim hood and keep clinging to the great Judge of the Universe. Our day of vindication will come.
