It’s an Action Word

“Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
Love does not demand its own way.
Love is not irritable.”
1 Corinthians 13:4–5
• People can be so exasperating! Sometimes we are selfish, some- times we are rude, sometimes we are just hard to get along with. Sometimes we aren’t so very lovable. I have to remind myself that love isn’t just a warm, fuzzy feeling. Rather, it’s a commitment to choose certain attitudes and actions. Basically, love is an action word. The true test of love isn’t how I behave when I feel loving, but how I behave when I feel otherwise—how I behave toward those who are as selfish and irritating as I myself can be. This kind of love doesn’t depend on how someone is treating me. It depends on my commitment to obey God’s Word and let Him love through me. God’s love is winsome; we are drawn to the person who is truly loving in His name.
