“Paul lived and worked with them, for they were tent makers just as he was.”
Acts 18:3
• Ever see a famous media preacher fly into town? Some of them arrive at huge auditoriums in limousines, they have numerous “handlers” and bodyguards, they wear silk suits and sparkling jewelry. Watch out if you get too close! Have they lost touch with the common bond of ministry that comes through working side by side with someone like . . . me? In contrast, the apostle Paul gave us a wonderful and effective model of ministry. He lived with the people and worked with the people. If you’re in Christian ministry, why expect a lavish life- style? Neither must you choose expensive venues in which to witness. Just be yourself and tell what God has done in your life. Doing this, while earning an honest living, will provide a most satisfying lifestyle (and won’t require a single handler). Like the apostle, we can work and witness, trusting God to sustain us.
