More Precious Than a List

“The world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father.”
1 John 2:16
• My grandmother passed away last month, and yesterday my father asked me to make a list of the things I would like to have from her house. I thought for a while and made a short list. Later, as I tried to think of the things that most reminded me of her, the material things were quickly pushed aside in my mind by the memories of my precious times with Granny. The things I most wanted were to hear her voice, to see her eyes, and to hold her hand. So often, possessions rule my life. I work to buy them, work to clean them, and work to keep them put away. In times like this, I am reminded how very little value such possessions possess. So little worth compared to the people I love. Special people and memories are precious gifts from God.
