“ ‘Even if you had faith as small as a mustard seed,’ the Lord answered,
‘you could say to this mulberry tree, “
May God uproot you and throw you into the sea,”
and it would obey you!’”
Luke 17:6
• I had long been a slave of faith. You see, in any given situation I would look at my store of faith and wonder how much striving I’d need to go through to make sure I had enough faith for God to be able to work. How wide and high and deep did I have to push to come up with an amount of trust God would honor? My faith bank account never seemed big enough to ft the mustard- seed bill. The disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith. But He proceeded to explain the relationship between a servant and his master, saying that the servant merely does what he’s sup- posed to do. Then I realized Jesus was talking about “faith” being my servant. When I came to Jesus, He gave forgiveness and provision for living a trusting life. Faith was part of my new nature, already in place. We can relax in God’s luxurious provision—faith—as it performs its natural function.
