“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
Psalm 139:23–24
• Is your heart an open book before the Lord? Can you let Him see everything that’s there without flinching? One thing that helps me is regular journaling. I write to the Lord about every- thing in my life. Often, it’s a conflict situation in which I’m asking, “Is it me or is it the other guy, Lord?” Amazing how often I’m led to see how I myself can change, how I can adjust my actions or attitudes to make things better in a relationship. In school we had to do it all the time: take quizzes and exams. But we can examine our spiritual growth occasionally, too, during our times of solitude. In those quiet moments of contemplation, we can rummage back through our days to dis- cover areas of our lives that still need heavenly repair work. In my prayers, I can have a completely open heart with the One who loves me unconditionally.
