“Don’t let evil get the best of you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
Romans 12:21
• Colleen and her husband bought a double-wide prefabricated home, along with a lot to place it on. Colleen looked forward to moving in, but then two of the neighbors began stirring up trouble. A man circulated a petition encouraging those up to three blocks away to try to keep the “cheap” house from coming to their nice neighborhood. The woman who would live next door told Colleen, “You’re really not welcome here.” A year after Colleen and her husband moved in, the neighbor’s husband died. Setting aside the unkind words of the past, Colleen extended sympathy to the grieving widow. It was the best way Colleen could resist all the opposition. It was the way of Jesus: simple kindness, no matter what. God will help us be kind to those who have caused us pain.
