Watching for the Mailman

“. . . My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”
Isaiah 55:8
• I knew how God could answer my prayer, and it would be so simple: just touch the heart of one of His wealthy servants, and that servant would obediently send me a sizable check in the mail. That easy! Then I considered: How had God answered prayers in the Bible? Surely He could have grown food in the desert for Moses’ wandering Israelites. Instead, God rained a heavenly cuisine from Heaven. And when Elijah was hiding from King Ahab, there could have been a nice garden growing by the brook. No, God sent Elijah his meals by airmail ravens. In New Testament days, God provided money for Peter’s taxes . . . from the mouth of a fish. God loves to surprise us with creative, unimaginable answers to our prayers. In fact, perhaps it’s time for me to stop watching for the mailman. When you pray, you can expect God to answer—creatively!
