Not for a Second

“Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jeremiah 29:11
• The house was quiet as I waited anxiously for my husband to return. Hours earlier, he had sat across the table from me, some- thing clearly troubling him. Then he spoke: “I have to leave; I have thinking to do.” The next morning, he returned with a shocking announcement: He was leaving me for a younger woman. After twenty-seven years of marriage and three children, suddenly my world, as I knew it, was disintegrating. I had to make a new beginning, and with the guidance of God and the encouragement of family and friends, I did. In the intervening twenty-two years, I have encountered many problems, but I have never trudged through them alone. Always I have known the Lord was walking beside me. No matter what heartache or frustration we may face, we can know this: Not for one precious second are we alone. What a blessing to know Jesus walks by our side.
