“Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God,
for I will never pray to anyone but you.”
Psalm 5:2
• We needed help. I’d befriended a beautiful family from France, a mother and three daughters whose father had died tragically after moving them to the United States. They were running out of money as eviction notices gathered on their apartment’s front door. I came to them not only as a friend, but also as a Christian who believes in prayer. At this moment, our prayer was specific: “Help us pay the rent—just one more month.” We all kneeled down in the living room, some of us saying words, others just weeping. And the money came. All of it, week after week, one way or another. That was four years ago. I am so happy to report that the family is thriving. The girls now have a wonderful American stepfather with a beautiful home. And each of them is excel- ling in school, sports, and music. What power in crying out to the King for help! Kneeling is a most excellent way of approaching your King.
