Open All of Those Gifts!

• After ripping opening his first Christmas present—a shiny toy truck—the one-year-old boy wasn’t interested in opening any more. As he scooted away, his mother reached out and grabbed the top of his pants to pull him back. It happened again and again, until all the gifts were opened. The child then played with his first gift, that little red truck. We may be so engrossed with our forgiveness (the very first gift packaged with salvation) that we overlook what else He has planned for us: every spiritual blessing. At times, I believe, God pulls us back amidst some sudden crisis or painful decision. This is a time when He can get our attention. He says, in effect, “Look, unopened boxes. They’re for you!” Truly, it can be Christmas any time of the year. Discover all the good things God has for you.
