Curried meatballs

Sauce
60ml oil 2 onions chopped 1 cinnamon stick 500 ml water 10 ml tomato sauce 5ml masala 7.5ml turmeric 5ml ginger paste 5ml salt 1 star anise seed 15 ml brown sugar 2 bay leaves 5 ml sugar 3 ml allspice 10ml dried breadcrumbs
Balls 4 slices stale bread soaked in water for 5 min. and squeezed dry 15 ml chopped parsley and nut of butter 1 cubed tomato 500 gr minced steak
To make sauce, heat oil over medium heat and stir-fry three quarters of the onion. Add cinnamon and water, then add tomato sauce, masala, 5ml turmeric, ginger paste, 2.5ml salt anise petal and vinegar. Mix well and leave to simmer. Prepare meatballs by placing bread in basin adding 2.5ml turmeric, parsley, butter, tomato, remaining 2.5ml salt and mince. Mix well but lightly and make balls. The sauce should be simmering when the meatballs are added to the saucepan. If necessary, add extra water before adding the meatballs. Reduce heat and add bay leaves, sugar, allspice and breadcrumbs. It is important that you do not stir at this stage. Simmer covered, until done for plus minus 15 min. Dish up with rice and Carrot and Chilli Sambal
