625ML YELLOW SUGAR ABOUT 250ML WATER

HEAT A HEAVY-BASED POT ON MEDIUM HEAT AND ADD SUGAR ALLOWING IT TO BURN. DO NOT STIR. WHEN SUGAR HAS MELTED COMPLETELY ADD a cup of WATER AND STIR UNTIL THE SUGAR HAS CHANGED COLOUR TO VERY DARK BROWN. REMOVE FROM HEAT AND WHEN COLD BOTTLE IN WIDE-NECK JAR SEAL WELL AND STORE FOR FUTURE USE. THE TREACLE SHOULD BE LIQUID ENOUGH TO POUR. MAKES ABOUT 500ML. IDEAL FOR CHOCOLATE CAKE DARK CAKES OR PUDDINGS – IT GIVES GOOD COLOUR AND FLAVOUR.
